Thoughts 4 My Thursday

Read this all the way to the end...its something for us to all think about

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for Best Actor and Actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series Winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remembers the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They're the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.

Now here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier, aint it?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in our lives aren't the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They're the ones who care. So lets acknowledge them and appreciate what they do for us simply by letting them know that we care.

Dena, oh you do come up with the best subjects to post about, and things that get us all thinking. I could not answer one of those first questions, but i sure did come up with a bunch of names to that second batch of questions. You are right, money and fame have nothing to do with it, but a big heart, a kind soul, a caring spirit are what make people stand out in our minds. A very good post today my friend!!

What a thought provoking post. You are so right. Thank you for being one of those people that has changed my life and one I will never ever forget! Hugz

However, as you know, I rarely see something and let it go without giving it some thought. Want to see something scarier? Answer these questions:

Who got away with murdering his ex-wife and her friend?

Who was the teenage girl that accidentally shot her lover's wife and is now a stripper?

Who was the preacher that was taken down after being exposed for having extra-marital sex with his secretary Jessica Hahn?

Who became more famous for having her husband injure the knee of a fellow competitor in Olympic figure skating?

What famous popstar is known for not being a great mom, running around town without panties, shaving her head and having a breakdown?

I bet you knew all the answers to those questions. Sadly society thrives on the dirty laundry of others and turns them into icons. Siiiigh.......
