Some things to think about....

An estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer will occur among women in the United States during 2009

And an estimated 40,170 women will die from breast cancer

Also, about 1,910 men will be diagnosed and 440 men will die of breast cancer during 2009 in the United States

In addition to invasive breast cancer, an estimated 62,280 new cases of in situ breast cancer will occur among women in 2009

M&M'S....In 2009, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is honored to continue its partnership with Mars Snackfood, US, LLC. From August 15 through October 31, Mars will once again sell specially marked bags of dark pink and light pink M&M'S® Brand chocolate candies in grocery and retail outlets throughout the nation. In conjunction with this program, they will make a guaranteed donation of $500,000 to Komen for the Cure

Pandora Jewelry....Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to partner with Pandora Jewelry as the beneficiary from the sale of a specially designed pink ribbon beads in sterling silver and 14 karat gold to support the promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever. From January 1 through December 31, 2009, Pandora will create a special pink ribbon bead to benefit Komen for the Cure and will make a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000. The bead will be available through at Pandora stores and through jewelry and specialty gift stores.


Evian...In 2009 Evian® Natural Spring Water is pleased to continue this mission by partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the efforts to support the fight against breast cancer. "Evian is proud to donate $.60 per specially marked 6pks of 1L and 500mL water bottles with a minimum donation of $100,000 up to $150,000 in 2009.


Purina Cat Chow...Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to be the beneficiary of the Purina Cat Chow sales program. From September 1 through December 31, 2009, specially marked packages of Purina Cat Chow will be sold in retail stores nationwide to benefit Komen for the Cure. Purina will donate $200,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in connection with this program..PLUS In addition, individuals will have the opportunity starting September 1, 2009 to go online at www.catchow.com/pink and enter their names and complete a brief breast cancer awareness survey. Purina will donate $1 for each survey completed online, up to $125,000. Customers will also have the opportunity to purchase a resealable cat food container on the web site and Purina will donate $3 per container, up to $25,000. An additional component to the online efforts will include a photo mosaic upload of consumers and their cats, which will generate a $1 per upload donation, up to $10,000.

Yoplait..Yoplait conducts the highly successful Save Lids to Save Lives® program, which takes place during September and October each year. For each pink lid mailed in by customers, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Komen with a guaranteed donation of $500,000 up $1.5 million.

New Balance Athletic Shoe..New Balance will be designing a special edition 993 Commemorative running shoe during this 20th anniversary year. The special edition 993, an all pink suede shoe, features the Komen for the Cure® pink ribbon, an insert adorned with an anniversary logo denoting the twenty-year partnership and a hangtag that details New Balance’s commitment to Komen for the Cure®. All special edition 993s will be manufactured in the U.S. and distributed in a new pink and black anniversary box with matching tissue paper, all featuring the Komen pink ribbon. The box’s inside cover explains additional information about New Balance’s relationship with Komen. n 2009, New Balance will donate up to $1million (with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000) supporting Susan G Komen for the Cure through the proceeds of the Lace Up for the Cure® Collection.

Swiffer...For the first time ever, the Swiffer brand is trading in its traditional green for pink this October, as part of a P&G-wide effort to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and encourage early breast cancer detection. Available at mass merchandise and grocery retailers nationwide in September.

Earlier today when I saw some ads about October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought of you.

It's amazing to see so many companies, and ones we all recognize, stepping up to the plate for this worthy cause. With this lineup, we can't lose.

There are too many people affected by this disease; victims and the ones who support them.

Thank you for highlighting this issue on the first day of October. Hopefully, the word will spread.
